This post is a little late, since we are already rocketing our way into 2017 and all of the new adventures that are to come, but I would be remiss if I didn’t share some of the highlights of this past year!
From a personal perspective, 2016 was definitely one for the memory books – in January (just over a year ago, now!), Spenser and I closed on our first home, an adorable shake-shingle Dutch colonial in Pittsford, NY. In June, we had our very own wedding – a small affair at The Rabbit Room, one of my all-time favorite venues (an old stone mill that has been converted into a restaurant and several floors of art gallery space). It was a dream come true, to say the least. From our honeymoon in Provence to adventures closer to home, 2016 has been good to us.
2016 has also shown me how endlessly lucky I am to do what I love, and work with so many incredible people. It may sound cliche, but while I love the technical aspects of photography and the creative challenge of creating beautiful images, it is truly the people I work with that make me love my job. It is such a blessing to be able to be a part of every love story that I get to shoot, to experience the love and excitement of every wedding, and to record all of the incredible little moments that make each event unique.
Shooting a wedding is a long, coffee-fueled, marathon of an event! Even when I get home tired with my feet cramping and my mind spinning with the lyrics to “Shout!” for the millionth time, I’m always inexplicably happy. When I pull out my memory card to flip through the images from the day, it’s photos like these that make me fall in love with my job all over again and remind me why I do what I do. I hope you enjoy the best of 2016 as much as I do!
Oh my goodness, it was hard to what to share as the best of the best! Here’s hoping 2017 is as incredibly fun and photogenic as 2016.
