Ashley and Alex chose the most perfect fall day for this engagement session. Their Canandaigua engagement session was a medley of crisp air, gorgeous clear skies, and one incredible sunrise. Wait, did I say SUNRISE? Yes I did. These two braved the early hours of the morning to enjoy that amazing sunshine coming up over the water.
The city (more like a picturesque village, in truth) of Canandaigua is a perfect location for an engagement session. The lakeside at Kershaw Park is a strip of green overlooking the water, covered by willow trees that glow yellow in the sun. The historic city pier has as much character as you can hope for, with colorful boathouses crammed side-by-side along the docks, draped in buoys and fishing gear. Best of all, the area is totally walkable – for Ashley and Alex’s engagement session, we started at the docks and made our way to the lakeshore as the sun started climbing in the sky.
Ashley and Alex live in Pennsylvania and are planning a destination wedding in the Finger Lakes. I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding in Canandaigua next year, which is also planned for the lakeside! I love it when couples recognize the beauty of this place that I love and call home. I am so partial to the rolling hills and shining lakes of Canandaigua and the Finger Lakes region, and it is such a great place for couples to come enjoy the sunshine, regional wines, and of course take beautiful photos.
