Sara and James’ lush springtime wedding was a beautiful open-air event at Knox Farm, at one of my favorite Buffalo NY wedding venues. The late spring weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding, with white peonies in full bloom nodding as guests mingled on the grounds of the estate. The garden party styling was effortlessly elegant, from the airy bridal suite surrounded by high windows letting in the morning light, to the patios accented with twinkle lights.
The details of this wedding were carefully chosen to lend an extra layer of meaning and tradition to the day. Playing off of the couple’s new married name – Erb – Sara drew inspiration from classic English herb gardens in her decor and styling choices. The peony-filled borders of the mansion were perfectly echoed in the lush floral arrangements crafted by Flowers by Nature. Later, the ceremony took place under a wedding arch handmade by Sara’s family, and accented with a coordinating floral arrangement and asymmetrical blue draping that perfectly captured the English garden aesthetic.
Perhaps the most touching detail was the small antique wedding Bible given to Sara by her groom’s grandmother, signed by generations of couples that had built the legacy upon which they will build their own marriage. We used this as a styling element in photographing the ring details, an important anchor for the photos, and for the day itself!
The mansion at Knox Farm is a beautiful space for a wedding. Sara’s hair and makeup were done in one of the many second-floor suites available for brides, and it could not have been more beautiful. The space was filled with high windows and natural light, letting in the bright, fresh spring day!
James got ready in another of the estate’s suites, an elegant space where he sipped bourbon with his groomsmen in front of a high fireplace, handpainted with birch branches to let the beauty of the grounds indoors. The details of the architecture of the venue accented the day perfectly.
After the ceremony, Sara and James mingled with guests at a lovely open air cocktail hour on the patio. Dinner and dancing continued late into the evening as everyone enjoyed the warm spring air and the atmosphere of love that Sara and James had created.
